About Karwaan
Karwaan is an online marketplace for Afghanistan. Shops of every size list their goods in one place; you order in Dari, Pashto or English, and when the parcel reaches your door you pay the courier in cash. No card, no bank account, nothing up front.
What we do
Buying online here should not depend on owning a bank card. We are building a marketplace where anyone with a phone number can order, look at the parcel at the door, and pay afterwards — and where the amount the courier asks for is the amount they saw when they ordered.
Karwaan Wholesale
Shops and businesses that buy in bulk use Karwaan Wholesale: the same account, the same cart and the same cash on delivery, with goods from shops we have approved as wholesalers — minimum order quantities, lower unit prices at higher quantities, and delivery charged by weight.
What we insist on
The price you see is the cash you hand over
No card, no account balance, no surprise at the door. What the product page says is exactly what the courier asks for — delivery and the cash-handling fee already counted in. That single promise is why people trust an order they have not paid for yet.
We only say what we can actually do about delivery
There is no national carrier here, so we work with courier partners district by district and tell you what we really cover. Where we have no courier yet, we say so rather than take your order.
Addresses the way people actually give them
Province, district, area — and landmark directions, because “near the mosque, third street on the right” is how a courier finds you. No postal code, because postal codes here exist on paper and nowhere else.
Built right-to-left, not translated into it
Dari and Pashto are not an afterthought bolted onto an English app. The layout mirrors, the calendar is Solar Hijri with Afghan month names, prices are in afghanis, and the numerals are the ones people read.
Sellers are paid once the money is collected
Not when the order ships — when the cash is actually in hand. Payouts go out by bank transfer on a regular settlement schedule. It means we never have to claw anything back from a seller after a refused delivery, and a seller's balance is a real number rather than an optimistic one.
What protects you
- Until the parcel is in your hands, you have paid nothing.
- Before an order ships we send a short code to your number and ask you to enter it; that keeps out orders placed by mistake, and orders placed in your name by someone else.
- If you change your mind at the door, do not take the parcel. You pay nothing and you need no reason — the order is cancelled, because no money has moved yet.
- If you accepted the parcel and later want to send it back, request a return and a courier collects it from your address. Whether the seller or you pays the return carriage depends on the reason, and you are told which before you submit the request.
- A refund can reach you in cash, by hawala, by bank transfer, or as store credit.
